Sustainability at Castelli del Grevepesa
Sustainability at Castelli del Grevepesa

A great Family’s duty

Our company policy seeks to reconcile environmental, social and economic objectives. For this reason, before talking about sustainability, we would like to highlight a fundamental pillar in our organisation: the ethical enhancement and protection of natural resources by reducing waste of any kind.

Respect for the earth, protection of the surrounding biodiversity, responsibility in meeting the needs of current generations without compromising those of future generations.

The goals

Far is never enough, the main goals of our project are:

Protection of the land
(farmers and winegrowers)

Maintenance of high standards
Product quality (consumers)

Protection of the land

Guardians of biodiversity

Protecting the land means protecting the entire ecosystem that composes it, such as the earth, the vines, the plants as well as the insects and all the varieties of living organisms in their various forms.

The earth is a fundamental element in this respect, and thanks to our specialized agronomists, we work extremely hard to ensure that it remains unchanged without the administration of harmful chemicals, instead using organo-mineral fertilizers that have excellent nutritional elements and lower carbon dioxide emissions.

Quality standards

Security pioneers

The sustainability process is no flash in the pan for Castelli del Grevepesa, it is an ongoing journey, made up of important choices and sacrifices, incentivised by the desire to safeguard our weak, tired planet that is sending us alarm signals every day.

To maintain high quality standards, we put ourselves forward for  evaluation by bodies that judged our work, and we rose to the challenge, achieving excellent results and obtaining various certifications: Equalitas, ISO 9001/2015, BRC, IFS and ICEA, for us the starting point to do even better.

Goals for a
sustainable future
Goals for a
sustainable future

Many of our goals are consistent with the UN’s 2030 agenda for sustainable development.

To monitor water consumption for each individual production sector and take action to reduce waste.

The renovation of the façade and the construction of the cladding are underway, and the latter will help to reduce heat dispersion. In addition, Castelli del Grevepesa is planning an energy efficiency project, which is about to start and will help to significantly reduce electricity consumption.

In the near future, the construction of a photovoltaic system is planned that will allow renewable energy to be front and centre as regards production.

To make use of certified suppliers who are in any case sensitive to environmental sustainability and prefer certified products or products from partially recycled raw materials.

To segregate waste as much as possible by trying to reduce the production of waste that cannot be segregated. In this way all waste destined for recycling is part of a circular economy.

To communicate with and train employees and shareholders, making them part of company decisions and raising awareness of the issues of sustainable development for human capital growth.

To publish the sustainability report that shows the total transparency of the project and the ethical ideas and values that we are pursuing and that inspire our work.

The practices

Castelli del Grevepesa has been working for some time to take a path aimed at environmental sustainability and in 2021 the project finally took shape and got off the ground.

The starting point was in the fields of some of our members where the practice of agriculture 4.0 has been adopted.
Thanks to the placement of control units for measuring climate data, it was possible to reduce the work to be done in the vineyards and localise it; moreover, our agronomists have selected products for use in field treatments that have less environmental impact and less residual impact in the final product while maintaining effectiveness.

Consultancy and agronomic and oenological support

The following project is to be considered a “pilot” project initially comprising five volunteer members, thanks to whom the project itself can be verified, improved and/or modified before being extended to a larger area on a cost/benefit basis. The pilot project is based on compliance with a virtuous protocol with voluntary compliance, the key points of which are indicated below:
